A Trend I Miss From The 80s

This decade is confusing to me. I see my kids wearing neon, off-the-shoulder Flashdance type shirts, converse hi-top sneakers, and feathers in their ears and hair.

They are stealing things from the 80s. From my decade. My teenage years were influenced by the end of disco, the emergence of punk, and the puke popular Top 40 that consumed my life. My teenage closet looked like Boy George, Madonna, Michael Jackson, WHAM, and Cyndi Lauper had a love child and it vomited up neon, sequined gloves, lace, oversize shirts, and scrunchies.

This is probably why my mom used to cry at the mall when I wanted JUST ONE MORE NEON GREEN TOP, and why she may have snickered when I left the house each morning.

It’s also why my brother – HELLO 80s Prep-argyle-stand-up-collar boy – used to refuse to be seen with me.

But I don’t want to talk about the musical trends or fashion trends.

This is the trend that I miss most from high school.

I did not have the long hair but the short. I also wore a key on my ear and not the feather. The make up was spot on but more black eye liner and black mascara!

Ohhhh – A key. I love it! I know – I needed to do my eye liner but was afraid I’d never chisel it off in time for the carpool pick-up lane at school! lol

I was a grown up in the 80’s and was sporting the Dorothy Hamill cut, so I own no responsibility for ozone layer depletion. The make-up!

Like I really love your video! Like you could really be an actress. OMG I remember those days well, like so well. What is a mother to do!!! You look sooooo becoming. Like I think I saw your twin the other day at the mall:)

I was a teenager in the late eighties/early nineties and had the big hair with “the claw” in front. I think about the number of times I sprayed hairspray on my bangs while they were wrapped around a hot curling iron and I cannot believe I still have any hair left.
