Two Blond Girls Walk Into A Bar…

*******
Eloise has said to me many times “Mom, why don’t I look like my sisters? I mean I’m the only one with dark hair and dark eyes and they are both blond with blue eyes. It’s not fair that we don’t look alike!”

And my response is “But Eloise-you look like us – Daddy and I both have dark hair and dark eyes and I love how gorgeous you are with the waves in your hair, your long legs, your beautiful smile, your kind spirit.  You really got all the best parts of us…and we love seeing parts of both of us in you.”

To which she replies “Well, then where did those two come from then with the blond and blue stuff going on because I don’t see anything of that in the two of you?”

I laugh and explain that genetics works in mysterious ways sometimes and I’m just so grateful that they also look nothing like our mailman.

    They’re all such Beauties!
As I hear it, women always want the opposite of what they have. You’re a crazy bunch of humans!

That’s so funny! It is really funny how genetics play out. Both my kids look like my husband; I always joke that we should have had a third so I at least had a chance to have one that looks like me :)

The mailman lol. Genes are funny. My parents have very dark hair & brown eyes. I’m a red head w/ light eyes. I refer to myself as a walking recessive gene!

You know how they say that children look like their fathers so that the fathers would know they’re theirs? I thought it was true until 5 minutes ago when I looked it up and found this: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=babies-paternal-resemblance
Our neighbours when I was growing up were both dark skinned, black hair, black eyes. Their third kid is blond with blue eyes. No one knows where it came from (although my dad has blond hair and blue eyes, but I believe his denials) :)

I also joke that my oldest looks like the milkman, because he got nothing from either of us. They are all gorgeous.

    I’m a blue-eyed girl with 2 brown-eyed parents.

You mentioned the mailman is out, how about the FedEx and UPS guys? LOL!

They’re all beautiful and smart, so clearly, they’re yours.

Both my boys look like their father. Well, the first one did, then he grew up and now he’s a spitting image of me. At least that;s what MY side of the family tell me.

Nobody looks alike in my family, nor on my mom’s side. I was shocked though, when I (with Filipino ancestry and 2 parents with dark hair and eyes) gave birth to a boy with sandy blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Genetics are weird.

Hahahaha mailman! My first born was blond & blue eyed too and his father & I both have dark hair and brown eyes. Luckily, he looked just like his cousins on his father’s side – and nothing like the mailman!

I grew up in a family where there were 7 of us. NO ONE looks like the other. One blond, One redish hair, then light – medium and dark brown hair. Some have blue eyes, some brown and others hazel. It is interesting how that all works out. These pictures of the girls are, of course, darling:) What I find more fascinating are the personality traits!

Holy cow… I hadn’t realized how much Esther and Astrid looked alike until that picture of the two of them! Wow! You need to post a pic of Esther at Astrid’s age. Can you even tell them apart?
