I’m an ex-thriftoholic. I’m still considering a support group for people like me. I love thrift stores and a few years back whenever my husband would call me to ask me where I was, my answer was almost always “um Savers…” Which truthfully is much better than saying the bar or the brothel or even Anthropologie.
I love thrifting – and it becomes addicting trying to be the one to finds the best deal of the universe. I love looking for unqiue home items, for fun clothing, $2 UGGS(yes, I’ve found them), and books that barely cost anything. It’s truly recycling, living green and helping a charity at the same time. And it’s FUN. It’s truly a win/win all around and much easier than driving around to 30 garage sales on a Saturday morning. Do you remember the old days? Geesh.
My favorite time to thrift though is during Halloween. I do not love buying pre-made/store-bought costumes and instead love thriting for a costume so it’s completely unique. I found Eloise’s Katniss jacket from Savers last week for a steal! So now it was my turn to return to Savers to find something for myself.
So this year I needed to find something just as creative. So I headed straight to Savers – my favorite thrift store. Savers is the ultimate Halloween destination with the largest selection of new and used costumes, accessories, home décor, and makeup of any retailer. This year the top Halloween costume trends are zombies, The Hunger Games characters, and fairytale inspirations. All of those can easily be created using items from Savers and at a huge savings over regular Halloween superstores and off-the-rack costumes.
I started with hats. And I’m not quite sure what I would do with a turkey hat. But somebody must wear the turkey hat, yes?
And then I got sidetracked because I found BANANA CLIPS! OMG, do you like remember banana clips? Like OMG.
Finally I decided on my costume but I cannot show you until Halloween because it’s a surprise. In the meantime though please watch the video of my Saver’s Shopping Excursion!
If you are looking for that perfect Halloween costume – head to Savers and you are sure to have a great time and find the most unique costume ever. I promise.
What are you going to be for Halloween and do you love thrifting?
****Disclosure: Savers provided a gift card for my shopping excursion but all words and opinions are my own.
