I don’t believe in eating small children. Or big children for that matter…but truly toddlers are so yummy.
What is it about them. They are still so amazingly cute and baby-like but they can communicate and make us laugh and they aren’t old enough to just stink and be gross.
They are at that age where their snuggles are endless and their wonder abounds.
So we have this game.
I ask Astrid “Oh I just need to take a taste of you – what can I taste today you are just so delicious I need to eat you up!?”
And she replies and points “Oh my ear. My ear tastes like sprinkles today!”
So I take a small pretend taste.
And she says “Try my other ear?” and turns so I can taste that too.
Then she says “Try my cheek now” and points and says “this one is peanut butter and this one is jelly.”
I taste them both.
I finish up with her chocolate nose and whipped cream forehead and then she tries to convince me that her hair is noodles and I should try them.
After whipped cream I’m not sure I’m in the noodle mood, but I try anyway and she’s right – noodles hit the spot.
Then she turns around and says “Mama, you want some bacon butt.”
Well I am a vegetarian, but who can resist bacon?

What are some games you play/have played with your toddler that makes/made them giggle?

- Amethyst ruffle pants
- Custom M2M Matilda Jane bow from etsy by MayBaby
-Purple patented shoes from Target

Oh she’s adorable! And I love that game…so cute. Bacon butt, ha ha!!
She has the most gorgeous blue eyes and I love her clothes. That sounds like a fun game.. mine are so old now and all boys they weren’t into games like that.Sighs.
I could totally eat her up with a spoon! NOM NOM!! Precious girl…
We play “this little piggie” like crazy around here.
Well when we marry and live together we can nibble on each other’s yummy toddlers.
So, so very sweet! Love this! xo
Dearest Tracy,
She is adorable! I can see how you might want to nibble on her.
My hubby plays a very cute game with my three. They always seem to have fish in their ears. They will tell daddy, “I think I have a fish in my ear.” Miraculously daddy can pull a fish cracker out of their ears almost every time. The kids love it.
Your Utah Friend,
Tina
That is adorable!
Oh.my.heart! Bacon butt! Too precious, just like your beautiful baby girl! My toddler loves when I play “tickle monster” & also a silly little opposite game, like I’m going to kiss your nose and I actually kiss his ear, etc. And my oldest started making a silly face called “monkey face” which is great for busting my 2 year old out of a tantrum…he can hardly contain himself when someone busts out a monkey face. Toddler giggles…a little bit of heaven on earth!
(Why, oh, why did I not buy that sweet June bug? LOVE it!)
Isn’t a toddler giggle just the best? Also the June bug is my favorite…followed closely by the Louise.
Oh you two are so adorable together!!! She does look delicious. And any toddler who can come up with ‘bacon butt’ gets my vote.
I love her ruffle pants!
Ruffle pants are the best.
We have a similar game. The kids ask what’s for dinner and depending on who I think it the most scrumptious that day I will reply with
roast baby or boy chops or maybe grilled girl sandwiches. Of course then I get to have a nibble first because I am the cook.
Oh Ingrid – I so love that.
Oh she is unbelievably adorable and I love how you wrote this.
Every single night when I tucked Charlie in bed he would ask for his ‘day story’. It always started with “Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Charlie, and he lived in a little house in St. Paul with his mommy and his daddy and his kitty named Claude” and then I would proceed to tell him back what he did that day. Watched garbage trucks, built with legos, what he had for dinner….
He hasn’t asked for his day story for so long, I kinda miss it. Hug and nibble that sweet little girl for as long as you can.
and thanks for the nudge to my etsy shop!
I think you should try it tonight..see what he says…
I just love that bacon-butt-baby of yours! She’s delicious.
Now that my kids are older, I play possessed Paranormal III zombie to get them laughing and screaming. I just stand there looking blankly with my head tilted to the side for a minute or two. Look, it works!
But I do miss the days when I could eat up their peanut butter cheeks.
m.
Paranormal zombie. I’m dying. I hope my kids never ask for that or I’d be terrified.
Love. It. So. Much.
Bacon butt . . . priceless.
I do the same thing with my (now 4) youngest, but we started at that age. I’d say, I’m sooooo hungry, I just need a small snack of you and she would answer in ways similar to Astrid. I didn’t do it with her sister, so it’s something she and I have all to ourselves. I love it. Still.
I love that it is just yours. How sweet.
That is too sweet!!!
Oh my goodness Astrid is so yummy – I agree about all tots being yummy. When our kids were babies it was somewhat dangerous around Thanksgiving time because we both thought they were so delicious looking we could just toss them in the oven and roast them. but thank goodness we restrained ourselves…! (-:
I know – with a little butter…perfect.
Astrid is just so darn cute.
Seriously, how do you not just eat her up all of the time?!
Lately, the “get the kids to laugh” game has been getting them to walk on the ceiling – it unleashes fits of giggles.
Leila is also a real stickler for “peekaboo.” She’s obviously past an age where it’s actually a surprise, but she loves shouting “boo,” and that will always get me to laugh.
OH john – I love that.
OMG, she is so yummy and I completely agree with everything you said about toddlers. After I finally got past my funk and denial over Lil’ Bit leaving her babyhood behind, I embraced toddlerhood and have been having so much fun with it. Especially because they can “communicate and make us laugh.” Yes, communication is key.
I just ate Lil’ Bit’s tummy last night. I nommed, nommed, nommed on it while she shrieked with giggles and then pointed and said, “Tummy,” whenever I stopped. It was delicious. All of it.
Astrid’s tummy is a bowl full of cherries. It’s also one of my favorite parts…after the bacon of course.
bacon butt! and noodle hair? I want to try this game with my boys, but I’m afraid he’ll just taste like dirt and wind. But I guess that’s good too!
Nothing wrong with a little dirt in your dessert…
whenever I say I’m going to eat my 20 month old the 3 year old starts to panic and begs me not to, but you’re so right, who can resist?
and if I was a mean mom, I may still threaten to eat the baby in front of the big one…you know, if I wanted to see her panic…
Even my 6 year old sometimes said – please don’t eat the baby.
Oh, Tracy.
She is all sorts of delicious.
Truly…those eyes! That smile.
I die.
How adorable!!! Too delicious, and those pictures are precious! Although my 2 year old boy definitely does not taste like sprinkles!
What a sweet game.
I used to count my daughter’s face when she was having a hard time falling asleep.
One forehead, two eyebrows, one nose, etc., and softly trace each bit. It never failed to put a smile on her face and help her fall asleep.
Lol! Bacon butt. She is adorable and yes babies and toddlers are just so edible.
So adorable! It seems like the youngest stays babyish forever, or maybe I’m just in denial. She’ll be “Baby Zoe” until she starts kinder.
Awww heart warming goodness!!!
We used to tickle the kids on their bellies, blow zerberts, and then….Then we warned them we are gonna gets zeeky aka a belly button. Gales of laughter turning into fits of contagious belling laughs abounded!
*sigh*
