Do you see this sweet girl here. The six year old who is my sweet sunshine of light each day.

The child who bounces out of bed each morning and nearly tackles everyone she sees with her hugs and snuggles and almost sings a show tune she is so happy for the morning.
The child who randomly holds your face in her hands and tells you how much she loves you.

The child who likes to dress up in princess outfits, wear the twirliest of skirts, and bows in her hair.
The child who has never owned, worn, nor asked for a pair of jeans.

The child who started first grade a few weeks ago and came home asking for jeans. Because everyone wears jeans.
And I cried. I then considered the cost to buy dresses for the other eleven girls in her class but decided that one simple pair of jeans for Esther would be more cost effective.
So I did.
And she wore them today. Her first time wearing jeans.

Her smile could not have been bigger.
My sweet girly girl is growing up. I hope she will still play princesses with me on Saturdays as I need to get more use of my new pink taffeta and tulle.

Linking up with Small Style today. Esther is wearing:
Straight Leg Jeans from The Gap so help me god
Bunny shirt with d’bling bling and matching scarf from Justice of all places. Please don’t report me.
The outfit saver being the Missoni sweater sold out in all sizes from Target but it can be YOURS for $169.99 – call me
And the piece de resistance – of course the Twinkle Toes from Skechers and yes may peace also be with you. And peace signs of course.
Amen.

Now she looks like an All American Girl!
Your Friend, m.
My girl has been wearing “jeggings” since she was less than one. Does that count as jeans?
She looks great. I do love that sweater on her.
p.s. she looks like a little you.
It totally counts. You’re a nice mom.
Yes, she is my minnie- me.
She just looks so darn cute. She is rocking those jeans. Now to put a little tulle skirt overtop. I always wanted my girls to do it, but they refused. They are so unreasonable!
Dana
Oh I think this one might just go for that. I am trying it.
Ah, she’s so cute! I love her name and I can’t believe she’s just now wearing jeans! Jeans are pretty much a must in the winter for us around here… unless you’re staying inside. And don’t mind freezing. Because our old home is a little drafty.
I know – she just never asked so I never bought them…but I do love them on her.
She’s beautiful and way more stylish than most adults I know!
I know – she gets it. So funny, her end of year kindergarten report card said “Esther has an eye for design and fashion.” I love that so much more than “does well in math.” lol
She looks great! Jeans are a good look for her!
Yes, but she looks awesome in them. Esther is totally rocking those jeans!
I know – would it be too much to buy her 5 more pairs…
Ah, the denim. My oldest is addicted at 10. And although the 8 yr old still loves her dresses and skirts, she has requested…GASP…skinny jeans. Um, you have no thigh or butt to speak of; how skinny could they possibly be? Well, let’s see, apparently there are skinny jeans and then there are super skinny jeans and somewhere, a super duper skinny jegging stuck between the microfiber and denim extra skinny low rise straight leg. Gonna have to take NO for $500, Alex. (I’m not that evil. I did let her try a pair on. The super skinny was baggy. Thank you, amen, hallelujah, cue angelic song).
Like your post the other day about being uncomfortable in jeans, I am that way w/heels. I love a nice pair of jeans but damn if I want to be stuck in flats. Or, dare I utter it — tennis shoes (I ain’t chasin’ no balls!).
LOL I hate flats. Yes, I bought my 8 yo the super skinny jeans and they are still baggy on her.
We got the twinkle toes too. So did my niece and she had to wear them to bed the first night. Hand to god!
She loves them so very much!
My heart aches when I see your beautiful girls. Truly.
Oh, that insidious desire to fit in. It starts so early, doesn’t it? At least she’s got killer, killer style!
Oh thank you so much. I know – why does a 6 yo need to fit in?
Esther girl looks great in anything-those Missoni colors are GORGEOUS on her.
And you’ve still got six more years of dresses with Astrid!
OMG now I need to have another baby!
Beautiful… Sweet… Comfy…
I am a jeans girl all the way… BUT…they require style as well… Esther’s got that rockin’… I can’t get Miss Livy-belle to even consider jeans…
I also intended to reply to your “designer” jean post… I love all of the funky, fun, pricy stuff… but normally go back to the Gap as well… HOWEVER, take 2 hours and let the girls at the Buckle bring you 80 pairs to try on… each pair is soooooo different (even if marked same size) and treat yourself to one pair of sexy jeans… They can truly make you feel “HOT” and don’t we need that from time to time??? I miss you…
XO,
Stace
From M, the four year old while explaining why I am not pretty all of the time (long story), told me that it was because I wear jeans sometimes. I make her wear them because I hate her telling me that she’s cold. I do allow her to gets one that have sparkle, or are pink however.
I still am most comfortable in jeans, but I agree on them needing to have style, and she has it. Love that sweater.
My 12-year-old daughter doesn’t own a dress.
(shhhh.)
I know. You probably want to fly here and stage an intervention.
My 8 year old doesn’t it. I cry about it a lot.
She looks darling!
You make gorgeous kids.
I imagine the “I don’t want to wear a dress” is going to hit me just as much as hearing “dad” instead of “daddy.”
Yes it is a knife to the heart. I am not ready for this.
Sweet and tangy. I know how you feel.
Hey Tracy, being mom to one rambunctious boy who will not let me near his closet, enjoy your girls! even if they’re in jeans.
Oh so well put – sweet and tangy! So true.
Oh my goodness you sound like me!! My daughter ALWAYS wears dresses but she actually does have a pair of jeans that she’s work before. I think they were shorts though, does that count? haha.
Found ya through Small Style. I have a similar linky called Mini Mod if you wanna link up there too!
Adorable! So jealous she scored one of those sweaters. She still has style, looks age appropriate, and, well, like a girl–perfect. Trust me, it’s much more fun than dressing a boy (jean shorts or khakis and Star Wars or other bizarre boyish t-shirts).
Just stand firm on the mini skirts and short-shorts.
Cheers.
OH my hell – the skirts at Justice make me cringe.
I have no girls. And yours are now wearing jeans. There is no justice in this world.
I tried to foist skinny capris on my seven-year old but she only wants to wear skirts that twirl.
Enjoy that as it ends oh too quickly.
I did the same thing to my mom in kinder. Everyone else wore jeans and i wanted to as well. I don’t think i wore a dress again until high school.
OMG don’t say that!
oh my goodness, she is so beautiful, look at that face.
She really does look gorgeous, even in jeans, but I know that wiht you as her mom, this one cuts deep. I will hope that she chooses skirts as much as jeans from now on.
Yep, we all just want to fit in. Thank goodness that’s such an adorable way to join the masses!
It’s amazing how they all just want to fit in, isn’t it? She’s absolutely beautiful!
Yes, the time has come. Peer pressure always makes its case. She looks adorable in jeans and so much more practical and less wash for Mom.
Jed should be happy about the girls in jeans also.
I find myself resorting to jeans more and more myself.
The hospital today had a big sign on all the doors today “Friday is Jeans Day” and it was strange to see Docs with jeans and sport coats.
A real sign of the times.
She looks SO cute in those jeans!! And I’m sure she’ll still play princesses with you!
