The Day Missoni for Target Took over my Life

I sat in a blog conference session last Saturday. During that session the presenter made a football reference THIRTY-SIX times in a 45 minute presentation. There were about 50 women and 10 men listening to this presentation and the other women seemed to know what he was talking about. They were saying things like Gophers and Badgers and Hawkeyes, oh my.  I started filing my nails and now have no idea what blog subject we were even talking about. I had to the urge to stand up and yell VAGINA just to see if we could change the subject.

But I didn’t.

And then I realized that football was his thing. And I let him have his thing. Now there is no way in hell you will ever find me tailgating in a parking lot, painting my stomach purple, wearing horns on my heads, or god forbid wearing anything resembling a jersey EVER  – I need to respect the fine folks who do that…because today was a very good example of me exercising my rights to obsess and talk about something right into the ground – shopping.

I am pretty sure I sent out no less than 150 tweets about Missoni for Target today – and that doesn’t count the Facebook appeals, the direct messages, the texts, the phone calls, the tears, the newspaper interviews(yes my lack of THE sweater IS newsworthy) here also(and a nice link back),  or the many chat boards conversations I participated in.

I have basically dedicated the last 24 hours of my life to Missoni for Target and I still DO NOT OWN THE sweater

or THE Pillows

or THE throw

That I covet.  Oh my hell  I am not sure how I will ever sleep.  This first world problem has put me in a very dark place of shopping hell.

But I don’t blame Target for it. I love them for it. This thrill of the hunt, the haves and have nots, the elusive and hard to get product. OMG it’s orgasmic and I want MORE!  THIS, THIS is what I love to do. The rush. I am fashion obsessed.

Of course it’s always nicer to end the shopping hunt with your sought after items – but even after a loss like today, I admit it is still almost as awesome to just play the game.

(However – if anyone out that finds that sweater in a Small or X-Small – call me! I admit that I’d be a wee bit happier owning that sweater.)

So did you shop for Missoni today? What did you get? Please don’t tell me if you got the pillows and throw as we can no longer be friends..or if you find them missing it like totally almost wasn’t me who took them. If you are bored with my fashion tweets, talk and have now unfollowed me on twitter – what is your one thing you obsess about?

Please don’t stone me for not really liking any of it. More for you, right? If I find the sweater I will send it to you… :)

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one who doesn’t care for this stuff, some of it I even think is a little ugly. I do understand the thrill of the hunt though :)

Oh I know – I don’t love it all either. Head to toe Chevron will not be on my body…but I do have a love of retro prints and Pucci at times makes me weep of happiness.

OMG that pillow is To.Die.For. And the sweater! The throw! (though I don’t even like throws!)

I can understand the obsession. Totally understand.

There was quite a bit of it at my local Target yesterday. I will go back today and see if there are any of your “must have” items still there. Couldn’t cost must to ship from WI to MN, right? Heck I could probably even drive it over so I’d have a good excuse to shop at the MOA for a day. :)

Totally forgot about it, and bet I could have scored some in Duluth! I can have Heather check for you in Bemidji….they may not be quite as on top of it there. I did hear on the news, on the way home, that all of the Missoni buyers ended up crashing Target’s website-so clearly it was a big deal!

I was hoping to go on Saturday but from what the news told me this morning most all of the Missoni stuff has been bought and that the best place to get it now is ebay… with a pretty hefty markup.

Most stores have even taken down their displays now. lol

I went on the website at 9am, bright and early, and it was crashed! Boo! So I packed up my little one and went to not one but two Targets in my area. It was so picked through that I was heartbroken. Not a pillow or throw in sight. But I accidentally bought myself a romper. It was an XL and the print was gorgeous and I just assumed it was a top. Then I got home and realized that NO ONE wanted to see my pregnant ass in a romper, even if it is a Missoni romper. I returned it this morning for the Toddler velvet trench coat that my daughter is stunning in. I WILL track down that throw, and if I see the sweater I will get it for you. Vive le Tarjay!!

OK, so my own post today talks about how I am a total girly girl who likes fashion and shoes and makeup and hair product.

    However…

I do not consider myself fashion forward.

    I’ve never heard of Missoni.

I didn’t know about this new line launching at Target.

Geometric patterns aren’t really my thing, so I suppose I don’t really care about this new line launching at Target (although I’ll let you know if I spot The Sweater).

I love tailgating at football games. Go Hokies!(Although I don’t do body paint.)

So, basically? Maybe I’m not as much of a girl girl as I thought. Huh.

It sounds like you need to do some serious soul-searching. Hugs my friend. and GO HOKIES – is that a type of vacuum?

I had no idea what he was talking about either. You were not alone. Minnesota women do seem to know their football. Not me. I hope you get your coveted items, just not via ebay.

I have no idea what Missoni is but I hope you find it and can finally sleep peacefully tonight, in your sweater, on your pillow, covered in your nice new throw of course.

I have taken pics of these on my cell phone and am headed to our Target on my lunch break to see what we have left. I imagine after all the hullabaloo on the news there won’t be anything, but you just never know!! I’ll let you know if I find what you wanted.

Tracy darling, head to ebay – there are only 34,000 Missoni for Target items posted there now – some are retail price, some outrageous prices – but with that kind of supply, they won’t get much of their price -right? RIGHT???

    :)

I have no clue what the hype was all about. But I will keep my eye out for the sweater when I’m at Target in the next week or so.

I so need a personal shopper. Will you be mine?

I’m still stunned by the whole thing. I forgot that it was out this week, so I didn’t look. But people in LA were tweeting “don’t bother” at 10am. Absurd!
