Photo Calendars for Grandparents…

I like to take pictures.  When Eloise was born, I had my 35mm film camera that I would fill almost daily, run up to Walgreens to get them developed, and mail prints off to Grandparents.  Luckily, I did have a digital camera also and I would upload a few shots to my computer each month.  Good thing, as I found myself looking for the perfect gift for her grandparents at the end of that year.

So I made them photo calendars so they could see their grandkids photos each month.  It is hard to live so far away and miss the daily milestones. Raves came from the across the land as the calendars arrived.

Now 8 years later, when I ask the grandparents “what would you like for Christmas this year?” – they always say “it doesn’t matter, just as long as we receive a calendar.”

There are many calendar programs you can buy and create on your photo editing software, but I do it the easy way and upload them to a photography site and create online -

I have used Kodak Easyshare, Shutterfly, Snapfish and Tiny Prints depending on where I was also getting my holiday cards, cost, lead-time if I was running late, or liking their particular designs that year.

If you are still looking for that perfect gift – I guarantee this one is a winner.

What are some of your favorite personalized gifts for the Grandparents?

We also live far away from family and the first year Isabelle was born we started doing photobooks for the grandparents. Just like the calendars, the grandparents love them and talk about them all year. I am awful at sending photos so I kind of redeem myself with them every year. ;o)

We do the same here for my sister who lives in Alaska. Since we are in WI – she only gets to see the kids once every year. She LOVES her calendar and says it gives her opprotunity to show off the kids to her co-workers, etc.

I usually do the calendars, too. But I haven’t managed to get it together to do them this year. Ugh, another thing to add to the list.

I started the calendars a few years back, but didn’t get them done last year & I think the grands were disappointed…now I am rushing to finish up the ones for this year! I love the way you can personalize the dates on the calendars now with photos & dates special to your own family!
I also did a photo book one year, but with the amount of photos that I take, that is an overwhelming task. I need to have another blog book made because I blog most of my good photos anyway.

Plus Ladies they make wonderful keepsakes. We get to enjoy them all year and it turns out they are much like a photo book. Yes, I love receiving mine each year. After putting together over 30 albums for my children and grandchild this past year (yike)(which was 14 years of pictures) I have decided pictures are now the responsibility of the parents! This is a perfect gift – Thanks Tracy!!

I’ve never done a photo calender although I’d love to. What I have made are ornaments using the main photo from our Christmas card for that particular year. I make matching ones for each of the kids too.
